More from the New York Encounter (only two days away!)
On Friday (January 13th) at 6:45 pm:
The World Youth Alliance Chamber Orchestra will perform a short piece followed by keynote speaker Mary Ann GLENDON, the Learned Hand Professor of Law at Harvard University, President of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, and former U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See.
At the beginning of an election year, even before taking sides, reality itself reminds us about the importance of participation in public life. Besides personal power, is there any other adequate motivation for entering, at any level, the political arena? Conversely, can we really ignore or be totally indifferent to the challenges of political life?
This will be followed by a classical music concert given by the Stretto Youth Chamber Orchestra at 9pm.
In case you didn’t see my last post (or couldn’t remember what this was all about), I’ve been helping to organize The New York Encounter for several months now, and I’m really excited for it! Everyone should consider coming. It’s completely free and open to the public.
New York Encounter is an annual three day public cultural festival that intends to offer a large audience opportunities for education, dialogue, and friendship through conferences, artist performances, and exhibits. New York Encounter is organized by Communion and Liberation and Crossroads Cultural Center and it will take place at the Manhattan Center (34th St. and 8th Ave) on January 13-15, 2012. I encourage you to visit the NYE website (www.newyorkencounter.org) or to contact the organizers at firstname.lastname@example.org
